The Meme League Week 3 Matchup of the Week

Two top teams battle it out to remain undefeated in week 3

This weeks matchup of the week features Greyson‘s 1st seeded Antonio GODson (2-0) going up against Kyle’s 3rd seeded Waddle Baby Waddle (2-0). The matchup will eliminate one of only three remaining undefeated teams from keeping that zero in the losing column. Going into Sunday, the Meme League Power Rankings have Greyson’s team ranked number 1 and Kyle’s team as number 3, identical to the actual seeding based on Yahoo’s record and points for system. It will be an extremely competitive matchup with the teams currently projected within .2 points of each other going into Sunday, Kyle’s team currently edging out the victory 144.58-144.35.

Thanks to some solid performances from Steelers wide receivers Johnson and Pickens, Kyle has the early lead over Greyson, who only saw a lackluster performance from Kareem hunt in the Thursday night game. Now let’s get into the positional matchups.

At quarterback we have two players that are playing in the same game. On Greyson’s side, Josh Allen looks to put up another stellar performance against the Dolphins, while Kyle is going with the Tua in his first start for the side after the unfortunate injury to Trey Lance last week. Obviously due to both talent and the defensive matchups, Josh Allen is my pick to win in this positional bout.

Moving down to the running back position, we’ve obviously already seen Kareem Hunt play which puts Greyson at a bit of a disadvantage, and it’s likely that Damien Harris at least slightly outperforms Hunt given the past couple weeks, but he’s always a risk in that crowded Patriots backfield. more importantly for each team are their star running backs who each were chosen in the first round of the draft. On Kyle’s side is the explosive, high upside runner for the Giants Saquon Barkley and on Greyson’s side is the fantasy darling Austin Ekeler. Both players have very nice matchups and with the Justin Herbert injury Eckler might see more work in the passing game than he already does, however I don’t believe he has the same upside as Saquon Barkley so I give Kyle the edge in the running back department this week.

Shifting over into the wide receiver position, this should be a really fun one as both teams have some high octane high upside wide receivers. Justin Jefferson is obviously the highlight here as he looks to get back on track after a somewhat disappointing performance last week with Darius slay covering him. Detroit’s defense does not have a Darius slay however, so I expect another big game from JJ, which could be enough to put Kyle over the edge. Kyle’s only downside on the week is that Buffalo has a very nice defense, so it will be interesting to see how Jaylen waddle does against them, Although they do have a few key players out with injury so they may not be as stingy as we expect. The biggest wildcard in my opinion will be Michael Pittman Jr., who looks to be the only valuable target in that Colts offense, so we could see him with over 10 targets and a high point total again as we did in week one but we don’t know for sure as it is a very small sample size and he was unfortunately out for a week 2. All in all due to consistency I give the edge to Kyle again in the spot, but it’s not by much.

We keep moving down into the tight end position, where Greyson has Irv Smith Jr. replacing Dalton Schultz this week due to a knee injury. On the other side Kyle has Dallas Goedert in what looks to be a very improved Eagles offense. Smith looks to be getting slowly integrated back into the offense and his snap percentage will likely increase yet again in week 3 in a nice matchup versus Detroit. Goedert also has a nice matchup against a very weak commanders defense they can be best comped to Swiss cheese. The winner between these two will be whoever is lucky enough to get a touchdown on the week in my opinion and I have absolutely no idea who that’ll be so I say it’s a draw.

Moving into the last skill position, the flex, Kyle already had George Pickens play and put up seven points, which is above his projection but not what he hoped for. Greyson hopes for another solid performance from Antonio Gibson while he’s still in the lead back role, but the matchup is a little bit tougher this week than in weeks past so it’ll be interesting to see how that one goes. I’ve heard from my sources that he might be looking into different options at that spot including Dotson, Robinson, or Olave. Regardless of who he chooses I believe that due to Pickens’ mediocre performance that Greyson will have the edge in this spot.

Finally, moving into the defensive spots, each side has a good defense this week. Kyle is rolling with the Chargers elite defense versus Jacksonville and Greyson has opted to switch out his old defense in the 49ers for the Baltimore defense versus New England and a struggling Mac Jones. Due to the talent on the defensive side, I give the edge to the Kyle and the Chargers D here.

Overall I actually somewhat agree with the Yahoo projections in that it will be a very close game, but I believe in the end that Kyle will end up pulling it out.

When reached for quote about how they feel going into this week three match up on Sunday, here’s what we got back:

Greyson: “It’s not looking good for me as I feel like I’m at a deficit pretty much everywhere besides quarterback, so I’m hoping for a big performance from Josh Allen, my King. I’m hoping I don’t have to see Jaylen Waddle‘s TD celebration this week even though it’s the best in the NFL.“

Kyle: “I’m feeling like it’s a pivotal game for my season moving forward, could set a set a real tone for me.”

Good luck to both teams in our week 3 matchup of the week!
